A Stuttering Start to Smooth Sailing.
Guest pickup didn’t go quite as planned on Sunday, as Marianne and Lexi got caught up in a very annoying testing snafu and couldn't get out of quarantine. This was highly frustrating to everyone as they arrived on the same flight as Janine, Cynthia and my fellow guide this week, Tim Fitzpatrick (Fitzy). As the three free birds climbed aboard, I worked furiously from all angles to pull some strings….something worked and they were retested and released. As I type, we are en route to collect them just after dawn on Monday. We will have everyone in the water for a morning swim as planned, then make our way up north.
After their very smooth arrival and restful quarantine, Janine and Cynthia made a stylish transition to boat life, both swathed in elegant purple. It wasn’t planned (or was it?) as they didn’t even know each other before yesterday.
We did a late afternoon swim at the Sculpture park in Dragon Bay, where we also rounded both the north and south points to have a proper swim and get a little distance from the boatload of noodlers that came to see the underwater statues. I always appreciate being a swimmer and being with other swimmers when we run into noodlers. I’m so grateful for the comfort I have in the water. Our guests come to us with the same, and that comfort only grows throughout our week together.
So after a swim in the lovely lowing sun, we chilled on board with rainbows and cocktails and catching up with these ladies I’ve known for so long and have missed. Dinner was yummy and filling and cookies for dessert struck just the right note as we are not yet a full complement…
We rocked gently much of the night, it rained on and off. My bunkmate, Miriam, and I took turns “on watch”. I think I’ll rest better when all of my mermaids are aboard.
Marianne and Lex, here we come! See you in a few minutes!
Sunday stuttered a bit, but Monday is on track for a full and fabulous day.
