Hawaii

We found it. A place with an aquatic culture, pristine coral reefs with abundant fish life, crystal clear waters, and amazing places to swim. The Big Island of Hawaii is an uncrowded, unspoiled swimmer’s paradise. Hawaiian culture is derived from elements of land and sea. We’ve adopted that concept to create a week with unparalleled accommodations, cuisine, and unbelievable swimming.Your SwimVacation on The Big Island will Include:

  • Seven days and six nights in spectacular beachfront accommodations
  • Private chef service, all meals included
  • Guided swims in beautiful places (usually two per day)
  • Stroke and Open Water Swimming technique analysis
  • Massage, yoga, a full day boat excursion, and an outrigger canoe sunset tour are included in this trip.

The Swimming

From off-the-beaten-path beaches to the famous Ironman swim course, we hit all the best spots for swims on the Kona and Kohala Coasts. Be among the lucky few to join us for this one-of-a-kind adventure. The clarity of the waters, the healthy coral reef system, and the abundant wildlife, including dolphins, will thrill even the most jaded of well traveled swimmers.

Accommodations:

Our home for the week is a private residence on Waialea Bay, on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. The home sits right on the edge of “Beach 69”, a stunningly beautiful white sand beach, from which we’ll swim every morning. Designed to capture the trade-wind breezes and give its inhabitants both communal space and privacy, the home is open, airy and thoroughly “old Hawaii.” Located about 30 miles north of  Kona Village, and within striking distance of so many wonderful swims.

Cuisine

Private chefs Dan and Clare Bobo prepare all meals for our guests in the open air kitchen at our home, Treadwell House. Dan has over 30 years experience and has held several Executive Chef positions at award winning restaurants in the Seattle area. He and his wife, Clare, moved to the Big Island in 2002 where they both went to work at the Kohala Coast resorts before starting Island Thyme Gourmet. They are well versed in global cuisines with extensive expertise in seafood and, of course, local Hawaiian flavors.

Snacks and refreshing beverages will be available before, during, and after your swims. A fully stocked bar with beer, wine, and liquor is included. Special dietary needs can be accommodated to a certain extent.

Massage and Yoga

Throughout the week, oceanfront massage therapy and yoga sessions are provided, and included in the price of the trip.

Activities

We have several aquatic activities to give us a break from all of the fabulous swimming. An evening outrigger canoe sunset tour is included in the trip, and there are options for body surfing, stand up paddle boarding, free diving, rock running and more.

Stroke/Open Water Swimming Clinics

The clear waters of Hawaii allow us to take videos of your stroke right in the open water during the first 2 days of your trip. On the second or third night we have a collaborative stroke analysis for every guest. During the week we also cover open water swimming techniques such as safety, sighting and navigation, buoy turns, pack swimming and drafting and race strategy.

Running and Cycling

We understand that some of our customers are training for all three legs of a triathlon. Training rides and runs can be scheduled throughout the trip. Time trial and road bike rentals can be arranged, as well as guided workouts along the Ironman Kona course.
